Third week of June: Begin Summer

This weekend was the first in June that it hit 70 here in Milwaukee. And I made sure to be at outdoor festivals all weekend. Gathering Waters at Lakeshore State Park.

It was there that I saw a dog with arthritis in a children's umbrella stroller.
Sunday was Locust Street Festival, where I got to experience the "sexy bikewash:"

Overall it was a great time. Enjoyed some of Lakefront Brewery's new Monkey Wheat. Ran into so many people I know. One of the joys of Milwaukee's numerous summer street festivals. Sadly, once again, there was a shooting I am crossing my fingers that this won't mean the end to our fests. Riversplash last year, Locust Street this year. Seriously, Milwaukee, start appreciating what we have.

Today my peonies finally bloomed. I have anxiously (and impatiently) been awaiting this day for a long time. It's finally summer in Milwaukee!

And to celebrate, my friend Stephen and I went to Leon's Custard (after some intense games of bocce ball)
Thank God summer has finally come to Milwaukee!

Gardening

So I've been funemployed now for a little over a month. Did a good amount of traveling... Route 66, Washington DC, Oklahoma City...

But now I am back, anxiously awaiting the arrival of summer (trying to remember what 70 degrees feels like)

Today I got some red wiggler worms for my indoor compost bin. I've been composting for as long as I can remember, but I am excited to try the worm method.

I also got a new rain barrel today from the Klement's warehouse (home of the Racing Sausages!) It was only $10! I irresponsibly left my old rainbarrel outside over the winter and its destroyed.

My life is so exciting!
